Pros and Cons of Spider-Man in Marvel Cinematic Univese

Marvel-Captain-America-Saves-Spider-Man

Every movie fan had their dream come true when Sony and Marvel announced that Spider-Man will be joining Marvel Cinematic Universe and that Marvel will produce next Spider-Man film. While this is the best thing to happen to Spider-Man after 3 mediocre movies. Spider-Man is way more famous and popular character than most of the MCU properties and yet Sony had no idea what to do with him while MCU grew. Now that Spidey is back home, can we be sure that everything is going to be all-right now?

Here are a few pros and cons about Spider-Man being in MCU.

PROS

1 Spider-Man is now an Avenger – A nerd’s dream comes true. For years we have wished for Spider-Man to fight along side Avengers. Nick Fury or Agent Coulson show up and tell Peter about the mystery of his missing Parents and Spider-Man team up with Daredevil. Think about the possibilities they are limitless and they all can come true.

2 Civil War begins – Earlier Black Panther was filling in for Peter Parker stuck between Captain America and Iron Man but now we can see a Civil War movie as it was in the source material.

3 Kevin Feige as Producer – One of the consequences of the deal struck between Marvel and Sony was that Sony would still own the rights to the character of Spider Man, so long as they have a new movie in production at least every five years. Now that Feige is in charge we will finally get a good Spider-Man film.

CONS

1. No Andrew Garfield – After this deal Andrew Garfield is probably no more the Masked Menace, the only thing good about last two sucky Spider-Man movie was his portrayal of Peter Parker and that makes me sad.

2. New release dates – All the Marvel properties are now pushed back because of Spider-Man. These are some of the new properties with a lot of potential and people were more excited to see these movies rather than just another Spider-Man movie.

3. Yet another origin story – With rumors of a teenage Spider-Man we might get to see the origin story of Spider-Man again and that is something no one wants to see. We all are bored of Uncle Ben dying again and again. We all know how a radio active spider bites Peter Parker and we all know about Oscorp so please not again.

I am really hopeful about Spider-Man coming to MCU. I hope he just kills it on the screen, I wish if Andrew could reprise his role but whoever does otherwise I guess I’ll have to wait and watch.

Movie Review: The Amazing (?) Spider-Man 2

1

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 released last week and was projected as Sony’s highly anticipated project that will kick further comic book projects like Sinister Six and Venom franchises. While somehow it succeeded in foreshadowing what is to come it failed to concentrate on the actual story.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 continued the story of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy after events of first Amazing Spider-Man movie. Peter and Gwen were dating again in the beginning of the movie and then suddenly Peter breaks off with her as movie proceeds to keep her safe. Well he should have realized that in first place itself. There are massive amount of loop holes in the movie, like how Richard Parker built a massive lap in an abandoned subway station and how come he implanted Peter with the DNA that triggered when the Spider bit him.

2
Story-wise this movie seems like a teen romance flick than a Superhero movie, I know many would say that Spider-Man is a teen hero so it should be but this one was way over the top. The story is filled with massive amount of cheese. Dialogues and sequences feel too cheesy and during 60% of the movie you feel as if there was no need of 3-D glasses. Movie is balanced by outstanding performances by Andrew Garfield who seems like a living embodiment of Spider-Man, Emma Stone and Dane DeHann as Harry Osborn. Jamie Foxx’s electro is one poorly written villain whose motives and rage don’t seem reasonable at all. The entire movie seems hurried to foreshadow the future events and Harry Osborn turning into Goblin seems too fast and hurried by the time movie ends. A lot of supporting cast is left not utilized at all and is wasted.

3
Amazing Spider-Man is an easily avoidable movie if you want to save your money otherwise being a Spider-Man fan you’ll like to give it a chance.

The Amazing Spider-Man Review

There is no doubt in my mind that it’s difficult to even watch this movie without thinking about the original that came out 10 years ago. But I think it’s better to go into this film, without comparing it with earlier ones. When the reboot was first announced I was not sure about what Sony and co. can do with Spider-Man this time around. After watching the trailers I was sort of convinced, also with the addition of the cast I thought,it shouldn’t be too bad.

I finally got to see the movie few days back, in my opinion it wasn’t perfect anyway.Cast was ok, Andrew Garfield did a fantastic job as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. He was able to balance the nerdy, dramatic version of the character, being a wise ass as Spider-Man. Bringing in some witty one liners. Emma Stone is great as Gwen Stacy, between her and Garfield they have great chemistry together. As for the other characters, Captain Stacy, Uncle Ben and Aunt May, you got yourself a pretty good cast here among Denis Leary, Martin Sheen and Sally Field. Now onto my gripes about the movie.

Pacing was slightly off, looks like a bunch of the dialogue in the trailers where cut out of the final produc. The main problem was the story, plot elements in the first 45 minutes of the movie is the same as the original just with minor tweaks. Dr. Curtis Connors/Lizard portrayed by Rhys Ifans is good, but the character really wasn’t that interesting, as for the final look of The Lizard he looked okay, nothing spectacular they should have kept the snout which would have made him look more scary.

Overall a pretty average reboot. Hopefully the story behind Peter’s parents is explored a little bit more in the upcoming sequel. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good movie, but as a reboot, it’s just.. okay. I’ve seen this in IMAX 3D by the way and it was good, but I recommend you watch in 2D.
