6 actors who can take over Ben Affleck as Batman

A recent rumour suggested that Ben Affleck is not interested in reprising role as The Caped Crusader. While it is just a rumour at this point, it might be true and the search for the next Batman actor might be on a large.

For me, it makes more sense to bring Nightwing on the centre stage and let Ben Affleck play the role of his mentor. For Warner Bros, it is important to bring in the next Batman because it is the only character that makes money. If we are going to see the next Batman, here are my choices on who should put on the cape next.

Karl Urban

Karl Urban, as an actor, has been rumoured to be Batman since Christopher Nolan’s trilogy ended. Karl Urban looks like the persona of Bruce Wayne, it will be a test to see him wearing the cape.

Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper has the person to draw for the ladies and his irresistible charm, charisma, and playboy-like antics would lend well to the Bruce Wayne persona. He’s also shown his action chops in films like The A-Team and American Sniper. A little bit of vocal work and makeover will present him as the perfect Batman in the next film.

Matt Bomer

As a young talented breakout actor, Matt Bomer has a lot of potential. He has been a solid choice for Daredevil in the past and his looks have made him a perfect choice for Bruce Wayne. Bomer is familiar with DC universe as he played Superman in the 2013 animation film, Superman: Unbound.

Clive Owen

Clive Owen has EVERYTHING needed to make a believable Bruce Wayne, which is the first thing you need to think about when mentally casting a new Batman. As an added advantage he already has the Batman chin and a brooding persona, much required to play Batman on screen.

Idris Elba

Elba being casted as Batman, will be the most controversial decision ever. The first Black Batman will make an impact like no one else. With a strong, intimidating screen presence and a towering figure, Elba would make for a solid superhero. He plays the no-nonsense, large-and-in-charge role very well, and he could bring a necessary hard edge to the Caped Crusader.

Josh Brolin

I know Josh Brolin is Thanos in Marvel Universe but once he was extremely close to play Batman. Brolin is a talented actor and is the perfect onscreen persona for Batman. He can easily nail the role of Bruce Wayne without any difficulty. He’s blossomed with a sort of off-kilter quirkiness that would definitely suit the not-quite-of-our-world ideal image of Batman too.

Personally, I would be really excited to see any of these actors play Batman. If you have any other actor in mind, sign off in the comments section.

Movie review: Star Trek: Into Darkness

It is one awesome film everyone should watch

Ok this was my review in a line, many countries have not yet got this movie and despite of heavy spoilers floating around I am going to keep it as spoiler free as possible.

Star Trek followers the alternate universe reboot of Star Trek in 2009 and if you still don’t like the idea of rebooting then you’ll hate the movie, otherwise it is as epic as first part. There are a lot of clever nods to the original series.

Although the movie is predictable and has its own flaws but which movies don’t have them these days? There are a lot of plotholes in this movie for example the headquarters and undercover operations have no defense mechanisms in case of an attack despite previous experiences. Despite that this movie shines because of solid acting given by every cast member.

Despite of having such amazing cast, the main baddie Benedict Cumberbatch shines above all. He was simply brilliant with each line he spoke and the every moment he simply beats everyone. Zachry Quinto is perfect as Spock and humorous at the same time. Rest of the cast with Chris Pine, Zoey Saldana and Karl Urban are simply awesome. The characters have a balance among each other.A lot of actors that didn’t get big roles in the reboot get the spotlight here. Simon Pegg’s Scotty is basically the star of the film, almost as much as Kirk or Spock. Anton Yelchin’s Chekov also gets a bigger role here, and really none of the characters get overlooked.

The movie is so fast paced that audience won’t feel bored at any point ever. For older trekkies this movie is filled with references and easter eggs. The score of the film is mindblowing and so are the visual effects.

In the end despite its flaws there was no way to make this movie better than it was. My rating for this movie will be 4/5

Movie Review: G.I. Joe Retaliation

G-I-Joe-Retaliation  There are movies that turn out real good from the first part that failed to deliver what fans needed. There are movies that fight previous shortcoming and if not awesome then still prove to be a good watch. G.I. Joe: Retaliation is not one of those movies.

I had no expectation, the first part was a huge disappointment and I was expecting the same with this movie. If you haven’t watched the movie then its good for you because anything exciting is already shown in trailers and TV Spots. There is nothing more to see other than big gun fights and cheesy dialogues.

The story picks up shortly after the first, with the Joes lead by Channing Tatum established again as being the go to guys if you want something not only done well, but done as flashy as possible. His team consisting of The Rock’s Roadblock, Snake Eyes, Jinx, Flint, and Lady Jaye find themselves double crossed and leaderless when an imposter in the White House sets the wheels in motion for Cobra to try their hand at world domination.

The Rock is the star of this movie.Duke played by Channing Tatum is killed after fifteen minutes of establishing his character. The whole team is in trouble and on a mission to stop Cobra Commander who is destroying cities using satellites because in that world every third satellite has destruction capabilities.

The film has some good action moments especially the one with Ninja Battle scene featuring Snake Eyes, Jinx and Storm Shadow who also had the best costume design, hats off for that. The best performance in the movie is given by Ray Park as Snake Eyes who played a mute character with a mask to hide his expressions. Rest of the team is as expressionless as a wooden plank. Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye is just an eye candy and looks as manly as the Rock with no expressions. Everyone else including Bruce Willis can be credited for worst performance ever.

The bad guy camp has a new Cobra Commander. The old one is shown as very much in captivity, incapacitated entirely, and yet he has this entire Cobra army at his beck and call. Do they blindly follow whoever wishes to claim the leader? This is the stupidest paramilitary team ever? But then again not a lot of things here do makes sense, they have a motorbike made entirely of explosives, to heat gloves designed to stealthily melt through a wire fence. You know what else stealthily gets though a wire fence? Wire cutters, but with the added benefit of not giving off noise and light.

And this one comes with my favorite TV Tropes, where two characters meet and they pretend like they don’t know each other or are old enemies and bang  we’re just messing around audience, we’re old friends!’ Tension resolved.

But most of us don’t care for story and acting in such movie, but action should be top class. This movie fails on that part too. Slow action that tries to take influence from Bay’s logic, and – most surprisingly given the movie’s budget is very cheap looking, and the hand-to-hand battles are kiddie-proofed to the point of having zero impact. Although the 3-D is superb especially in Ninja sequences but Bay knows his stuff and others don’t.

Fans of big dumb popcorn flicks like Expendables and Transformers will love this movie otherwise this is a plain disappointment.

Final Verdict 2.5 out of 5
