Movie Review – Captain America: Civil War

Captain-America-Civil-War-concept-art-1-1200x641

Like the previous Captain America movies, “Captain America: Civil War” continues the tradition of a great superhero movie. It is a great action/thriller with a nice blend of humour. Before The Avengers came to the theatres, many wondered that how would one manage bring so many different superheroes together in one film and have it feel both cohesive and coherent. Then the movie ended up delivering in a big way and in the wake of its success it almost seemed foolish to have doubted the proposition in the first place.

The Russo Brothers and their amazing under-appreciated Screenwriters have done an amazing job with the film. It is not just Superhero movie, but pure entertainment film. They prove that they are true fans of the source material, making changes that needed to be made for the transition to the big screen.

The story is changed from the comic but in a way that the Marvel Cinematic Universe needed so badly. This film changes every relationship for the worse. We travel around the world and new characters enter the fray. Black Panther/T’Challa is the most prominent of these and Chadwick Boseman nails the character, leaving you wanting more for the future and longing for his standalone movie.

There are many big ideas in the film and it attempts to turn expectations on the head in some ways. Tony Stark as the Steve’s counterpoint is presented in a beautiful way, and the film explains how and why this is the case by exploring his background. The script, by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, touches on something that comic book films have been accused of–showing mass destruction without the consequences. Civil War deals with a long time issue with comic book movies. The issue of collateral damage. When heroes fight villains, a number of innocents are hurt and die. Secretary of State (William Hurt, reprising his role as Thunderbolt Ross) presents the Avengers with a choice; sign an accord that makes them agents of the U.N., or retire. While Iron Man supports the accords,  Captain America opposes it calling it a means to turn Avengers into a weapon of war.

There are more characters–the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), who in the comics got married and I think they’re going in that direction in the films, even though he ends up imprisoning and cooking for her. The major action piece is full-blown battle at the airport. We even get Ant-Man turning into a full fledged Giant Man, and meet the new Spider-Man (Tom Holland, who makes Tobey Maguire seem like an ancient history.

Captain America: Civil War shows that how a great balance between gravitas and humor can be achieved. Something that the D.C. films struggle with. When Downey Jr. is approached by a mother (Alfre Woodard) whose son died as collateral damage in an Avengers fight, you can feel the pain and emotions as you know the backstory. Evans plays a much less nuanced character, but he is terrific, and the film is full of cameos, such as Martin Freeman and, amazingly, Marisa Tomei as Parker’s Aunt May.

From here how Marvel takes their films over the next couple of years is going to be intruiging. If anything, we probably won’t be learning the fallout from the events of Civil War right away. The next couple of films in the franchise either introduce a new character and new corners of the cinematic universe (November’s Doctor Strange) or appear to take place off-Earth (next year’s Thor: Ragnarok and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2). It probably won’t be until 2018’s Black Panther that we get to see what comes next in the studio’s grand plans for these heroes.

Marvel Studios Phase 3 line up: Thoughts and Analysis

Marvel-Phase-Three-550x433

Marvel has finally revealed its plans for Phase 3 that will start soon after Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out followed by Ant Man that will end Phase 2 and Phase 3 will start in 2016.  Before I move on here is the Phase 3 line up:

May 6, 2016 – Captain America: Serpent Society… SCRATCH THAT!  It will be titled Captain America: Civil War

November 4, 2016 – Doctor Strange

May 5, 2017 – Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (has been moved up from its previous July release date)

July 28, 2017 – Thor Ragnarok

November 3, 2017 – Black Panther

May 4, 2018 – Avengers: Infinity War Part 1

July 6, 2018 – Captain Marvel

November 2, 2018 – Inhumans

May 3, 2019 – Avengers: Infinity War Part 2

Phase 3 from the set of announcements and the little that we already know about these movies, the MCU isn’t just shifting, but the entire MCU suffering from it’s own growing pains in the roughest way. There are a new slew of characters that are being introduced in Phase 3. With all new characters and what seem to be very firm endings to a number of characters that previously anchored the MCU. Those changes will majorly effect the MCU through Phase 3 and then in the future with Phase 4.

Civil War Captain America

Captain America: Civil War May 6th, 2016: With Captain America 3: Civil War it seems that maybe Age of Ultron will not end on a high note.  For those who do not know the comics, Civil War is a story line that pits comic book heroes against each other after a bill to be passed by the government for heroes to give up their identities to the public.  Iron Man, Tony Stark, is for this while Captain America, Steve Rogers, is against.  It also is the beginning of the end for Rogers because shortly after Civil War, Fallen Son takes place with Rogers being killed.  I believe Part 2 of the Infinity Wars will be the repercussions of Rogers death in Part 1.  I can definitely believe Bucky or Falcon will be taking the mantle of Captain America.

Doctor Strange November 4th, 2016: We already knew Scott Derickson was attached to direct. However, for a long time we had no idea who would be portraying Stephen Strange on the big screen. Sure, nothing has been officially confirmed, but Benedict Cumberbatch will likely land the part as he is in final negotiations. Doctor Strange opens a very different door into the Marvel Universe. Until now, everything we saw had a very solid explanation, many of which were based in science fiction. Even everything cosmic about Asgard and it’s inhabitants felt ethereal, but also had a sense of science fiction to. The movies went as far to say that what we from Earth may see as magic was really just science we didn’t understand. Doctor Strange may eliminate that sentiment as he brings magic to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is also an interesting new dynamic that he brings to the Cinematic Universe.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 May 5th, 2017

Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-2-Movie-Logo-Official-300x150
Marvel made it clear that they had a lot of faith in Guardians of the Galaxy. They knew it was their biggest risk, but they took it anyway. Honestly, it’s worked out very well for them as Guardians of the Galaxy is the largest domestic release of 2014 ($328M) and 3rd largest internationally ($752M) (and honestly it’s only 5 million away from being number 2). Guardians was a massive hit and generally well loved. The movie did brilliantly and it makes sense that they would come back for more. Especially since Guardians has easy connections to Thanos and the upcoming Infinity War movies. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will likely see the crew dropped into an even worse situation than before. We will likely also see the results of this film trickle into Thor: Ragnarok as space and the cosmos go together nicely.

Thor: Ragnarok July 28th, 2017
The title of this film took me back and made me shed a tear. Sure, Thor is not the most loved franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s most often cast to the side, but it has never been outright bad. Maybe I am just so enthralled by Asgard that I’ve connected to the place and the title Ragnarok scares me. In case you don’t know Ragnarok is almost like another word for apocalypse. It is the end of the world with many of the major heroes and figures in Norse mythology die. Dead as doornails, dead. The Marvel comics have had their own versions of Ragnarok in the past and guess what, many people died there too. With A blatant title like Ragnarok for the third Thor movie it screams bad news for those involved. When you line up the deaths in the traditional Norse mythology with the MCU characters we’ve been introduced to, you are looking at the deaths of Thor, Odin, Loki, and Heimdall.

blackpantherartBlack Panther November 3, 2017:

Marvel also took the jump and will have a black character head their own movie. I don’t think they could have chosen anyone better as T’Challa is a fascinating character in his own right. T’Challa is King of Wakanda. There are far fewer ways to assert a black character as important than letting the first one getting a solo film being a king. T’Challa’s politics will undoubtedly play a role in his story. He will also be introduced a few films earlier in Captain America: Civil War. How exactly T’Challa will play into Phase 3 on a grander scale as he doesn’t have much connection to other heroes or the cosmos is unclear, but I’m sure as always there is a very definite plan. Even if Black Panther is a bit less connected to the chaos, I won’t mind as his character will give us a very different movie than we’ve seen in the MCU and that is always a necessary requirement if these films are to retain their popularity.

Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 May 4th, 2018
The Infinity War is clearly going to be a large part of Phase 3. A large enough part that it will need two movies to navigate through the intricacies of the plot. It will inevitably include the Infinity Stones which we have been seeing since Phase 1. I don’t have much to say other than I’m excited about what this can potentially become. We’ll have a new, or at least partially new team leading as the Avengers. We’ll also see a threat that affects the entire universe.

Captain Marvel July 6th, 2018: Marvel has finally jumped in and gone for the female led superhero film. And boy is she a great superhero. Carol Danvers is an interesting character that seems to scream that she is going to do things her way and no one is going to get in the way to stop her. She’s a strong female character and it’ll be nice to see her take center stage. Sure, it was long rumored that she would be the first Marvel female to get her own film, but it’s a good thing to see if finally happen. Considering her ties to Kree, it wouldn’t be surprising if that is center stage to how she is drawn in to the entire conflict and everything going on since the events of Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.

The Inhumans November 2nd, 2018: Everyone out there clamoring for an Inhumans movie can finally calm themselves. However, the Inhumans movie would not be happening if Guardians of the Galaxy had not been such a success. Because one risk paid off, they are now able to take yet another risk. Inhumans as a movie has a lot of potential and it’s inclusion between Part 1 and 2 of the Infinity War movies makes perfect sense. It also makes sense after the Captain Marvel movie. The Inhumans stands to be an interesting endeavor with the lead character forced to communicate telepathically because his voice is a weapon. There are already rumors that Vin Diesel may play Black Bolt, leader of the Inhumans, but it is still too early to know. I for one can not wait to see the hair effects on Medusa.

Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 May 3rd, 2019
I don’t have anything other to say other than I hope the end of this movie is epic and sound as we will get ready to movie into Phase

Trailer Analysis – Avengers: Age of Ultron

1

After a long wait and being teased again and again at different expos and comic con finally we got to see the much awaited sequel of Avengers and the trailer was mind blowing. Certain bits and pieces in the trailer although unclear were worth noticing. I have watched the trailer again and again and finally here is a trailer analysis about how and what the movie is going to be.

Is there a superhero movie these days whose trailer doesn’t starts with a monologue. This is something that separates Comic Book movies different from other movies. Weather it is Zor’El monologue from Man of Steel or Steve Rogers and Alexander Pierce pep talk in The Winter Soldier it has been part of the comic books who the story shapes out. Here in Age of Ultron we get a similar monologue by our Villain Ultron voiced by the legendary James Spader whose voice sounds absolutely terrifying.

The monologue contains a number of moments, New York City in destruction and chaos and people running away from something (guess what). The clip soon cuts to another group of people who are standing protesting about something, I feel that the trailer sows the seeds for Civil War and these people are the ones demanding a registration act or something similar. Interesting part is that both Quicksilver and Scarlet witch are in this crowd of protesters. So again I am not sure whats going on.

1414079885635

The clip moves to show Ultron’s hand being covered in something metallic (Vibranium may be?) this happens somewhere in between of the film when Ultron finally arranges Vibranium and upgrades himself. We see more people shouting and then we see Captain America in between of a battlefield. He looks tired and broken followed by quick shot of Hawkeye. He seems he is back on evacuating duty like last time and then Thor’s hammer.

The shot cuts to the scene where a terrified Bruce Banner is sitting with Thor and Widow both of them look broken and tensed. But why is Dr. Banner so terrified that will make him crawl in his own space. This may be after his fight with Hulkbuster and he does something unfortunate that he is not supposed to. Anyways the whole trailer makes a point clear that Dr. Banner is in pain, he is terrified and running away from something.

avengers-2-age-of-ultron-trailer-leak-screenshot-bruce-banner1

Scene cuts to Ultron Mark 1 walking inside Avengers mansion that he seems to build himself from scraps of pervious Iron Man suits, he is such a party pooper. There are two unknown women in the party, one of them is Maria Hill, the other one I am not sure about though.

main3_Ultron_teaser03_zps8caa8596

avengers-2-age-of-ultron-trailer-leak-screenshot-iron-man-armor1

The interesting part is that no one seemed to notice is that there is already an Ultron Bot fallen on the floor that Ultron lifts and breaks it apart. Ultron has some major daddy issues, furious against his creator with a belief that Humanity is flawed and he can achieve perfection by killing them all. I am still not sure that what this bot is doing on the floor, maybe there was an attack by one of the Ultron Bots that Avengers or one of them took him down after which Ultron made an appearance or someone simple sucker punched one of the Starks personal security bots to show their might.

Marvel logo flashes on the screen while the creepy version of Pinocchio’s I’ve got no strings on me starts playing in background. We see Iron Man in a new suit in between of mountains, a fort that seems like a new Hydra base and Captain Rogers breaking a door and entering.

avengers-2-age-of-ultron-trailer-leak-screenshot-nick-fury-samuel-l-jackson1

These army guys never understand, they have to open fire at every alien or robot that descends and attack the city doesn’t matter if their bullets are not even going to touch them. We see army deployed in a city most probably NYC followed by more innocent civilians, a tank and then Bruce Banner running and falling on the snow, he is terrified and in pain. Is he having trouble controlling the monster inside him? May be.

From here we get our first introduction to the twins, it seems at some moment they’ll be working with Ultron before becoming the good guys.

A number of Ultron Bots appear from sea and make their way for the battle. I personally feel that these Ultron bots are not a part of Ultron’s army but the private security created by Tony Stark and SHIELD. They assist Avengers during the fight against HYDRA after which they become fully aware and it might be a result of Loki’s mind gem that is with Baron Stucker in the beginning of the film.

We see Avengers in the battlefield, Thor’s hammer falling on the ground that I believe is just a metaphor for defeat and he is not going to become unworthy so soon. Although I feel that Thor might die in this movie sowing seeds for Ragnarok where he has to escape Hel in order to protect Asgard.

We see couple of shots of Tony Stark, looking at a damaged Ultron Bot and then regretting about all the decision and the path he took. Stark always wanted to privatize world piece and Ultron might be his biggest mistake.

We soon move to what for me is most anticipated parts about this movie that is Hulk vs Hulkbuster. Hulk seems to be possessed, his eyes are red and nerves show up all around his arms and shoulders. He is angry and doing what is does the best, destroying a city until Stark intervenes.

Black widow jumps out of a quinjet riding a badass motorcycle followed by Quicksilver in a slo-mo scene fighting Ultron or a bot and saves Captain America. Even Scarlet Witch looks angry and all hexy (you see what I did there?)

Screen Shot 2014-10-22 at 7.35.04 PM 1

There are a few scenes that I am yet not able to understand. Steve Rogers is in some 1940 setting with a part going on, is there time travel involved? Is this one of the Ultron Visions or an illusion created by Scarlet Witch. We see water all dried up as ships stands still that seems like another distant future vision and what is Andy Serkis doing here? He might be playing Ulysses Klaw who’ll arrange for Vibranium for Ultron. This opens doors for Black Panther movie as the Serkis can play the Klaw’s sound version excellently in Black Panther movie with the mo-cap technology.

Even Thor seems deranged as he comes out of the water, I feel that Thor dies at some point and this is either Hel or Valhalla where he recovers in afterlife.

There is something going on between Black Widow and Hulk. May be she turns out to be his new calm down agent.

The death and destruction follows by a bunch of Ballerinas and then more death and destruction. We see Hawkeye in his Ronin suit running in the same snowy setting. In the next clip Thor lifts Stark by his neck, he probably doesn’t know that Destroyer armor is still in SHIELD custody and Thorbuster might be on the way.

We see the heroes fallen with Captain America’s shield broken in pieces and Thor’s hand next to it. Again this could be vision. Finally we see the Upgraded version of Ultron who declares that there are no strings on him.

If you look at the trailers closely the numbers and street signs vary from European to Asian that makes sure that the danger this time is worldwide rather than only NYC being in attack.

In short there is a lot going on in the movie, I wonder how Whedon will manage all of this. But I have my full faith in him.

Opinion on how Marvel will wrap up AVX and segue into Marvel NOW!

so if you recall in the latest issue of AVX Iron Man is stuck in his lab in K’un Lun trying to piece together how Hope, Iron Fist, The Phoenix Force, and Wanda’s power are all related.

As soon as Marvel teased the reunion of the Illuminati it became quite apparent: All of these powers tap into various infinite gems. Iron Fist attains his power from his Chi, or Soul, Wanda has Reality warping powers, The Phoenix Force would represent the red Power gem, leaving only Mind, Space, and Time unaccounted for at this point in the series.

This became even more obvious when I looked back to the first arc of Avengers in the Heroic Age where Parker Robbins obtains the infinite gauntlet before Iron Man “wishes it out of existence” only to form a new Illuminati and hide each gem.

I’m guessing that Hope will wear the gauntlet since she is both the mutant savior and siding with the Avengers, so her recreated universe should serve both sides well. One might first think that since Namor is decidedly against the Avengers getting their hands on the gem he hid, that the gauntlet will be incomplete. That is an easy fix though, since the wielder of the gauntlet will control Space and Time at that point.

Mystery Aliens in Loki Army

Avengers Aliens

It’s been a while the Avengers super bowl spot surfaced and we got the first look at the aliens in the Loki’s army with no info on who the aliens are, the only hint we got that Loki after leaving Asgard at the end of Thor made pact with some inter-dimensional gangsters. Here are some theories on who are these mysterious Aliens.

Skrulls/Chittauri : While Joss Whedon denied about Skrulls in the movie he never said anything about Chittauri in the film. In the ultimate universe The Chittauri serve as the ultimate version of Skrulls and since fox owns the rights to Skrulls since they appeared first in Fantastic Four so this can be a safe way for Marvel Studios to design them as a mix of 616 and Ultimate Universe and name them Chittauri. Skrulls have always played an important role in Marvel universe and this can be debut in MCU. But having Skrulls need a lot of backstory to be explained so it is a safe way to go with someone whose origin story is not required or as enormous as the Skrulls

Skrulls-Chittauri

Skrulls

Kree: Since random mentions of Captain Marvel in the movie there are chances of Aliens being the Kree but they are not. They not at all have any resemblance with any of the attacking Aliens. The only connection is that after Skrulls, Kree is the most powerful race of planet that can attack earth. Not now but may be in future we will get to see them.

Kree

Kree

Thanos: WE already had a infinity gauntlet easter egg in the Thor and after that there were fare chances him appearing in Avengers. Also have you noticed how similar the headbands are similar with the one Thanos wears?

Thanos

Thanos marvel comics

The New Men AKA Knights of Wundagore: When screenshots of Super bowl teaser first surfaced something that took everybody’s attention was a contraption Loki was riding while chasing Iron Man. The same type of object is used to the New Men who were a creating of High Evolutionary. High Evolutionary always has a role in every cosmic event in Marvel universe. Wundagore is the place where Magneto’s children were born who because two of the most prominent avengers. But after we got clear pictures the aliens looked nothing like them.

Knights Of Wundagore

Frost Giants: Loki can always escape to Jotunheim anytime he wants. He have used Forst Giants for a number of purposes, after all he is Laufyson. They don’t even need to have a backstory like Skrulls . The aliens have a striking resemblance to the Jotun Army except for the fact that we know that they use some high tech weapons.

Frost Giants as in Thor film 2011

Badoons: Whichever site I have been to seem to have this race as one of their favourite. They have very little backstory to explain and are green in colour like the ones in Loki’s army. The only difference is that they generally don’t use such hi-tech armour.

Badoons

Annihilus and his Minions: Though the aliens’ faces have a striking resemblance to ones Annihilus uses but then rights to Annihilation wave is owned by Fox and Fantastic Four franchise so there is a no no about them as well.

Annihilation Wave

Sons of Muspell: The Superbowl teaser shows lightening over a building and a dimensional portal opening in the sky. This reminds of an old Thor/ Fantastic Four team up comics where it happened over the Baxter building. Also Muspelheim is one of the realms from Asgard and thus doesn’t requires to have a backstory and simply followed by an invasion.

Sons of Muspell

Namor and the Atlantians: Iron Man 2 dropped hints about Namor being in the MCU and we all were with high hopes about getting a Namor movie soon. But the Atlantians are blue in colour rather than the green coloured Aliens in the film.

Atlantians

Karbonites: Karbonites were a lesser race which serves as the origin story for Beta Ray Bill. Having Karbonites in Avengers can easily introduce Beta Ray in Thor 2, the only problem is that here only Beta Ray Bill was the one with horse shaped face on that planet and rest of them were humanoids.

Beta Ray Bill

Dark Elves: The look is very similar to what we’ve seen, and in a slight design tweak could be mistaken for Skrulls.  Also they originate from those 9 realms.

Dark Elves

Breakworlders: Breakworld is just a planet/race of aliens that appeared in The Astonishing X-Men a few years ago.  They have a dark greenish/grey skin, wear armor. And they were created by Joss Whedon himself.

Breakworld Ashtonishing X-men

Abyss and the Luminals: We already have seen Dimensional portal opening in the trailers. One of the stories surround this portal and cosmic cube belongs to Luminals. Nova and Cosmo trapped a villain named Abyss and an group made up of many aliens named the Luminals, and while in the Dimensional Envelope Abyss defeated The Luminals and TRANSFORMED THEM INTO HIS OWN ZOMBIE ARMY. They too have a close resemblance to Luminals and this can explain Loki’s interest in the cosmic cube.

Abyss and the Luminals

Alpha Centaurians: A group of aliens who invaded earth because water on their planet finished. They have the most close resemblance to the ones in Loki’s Army. The action figures can easily identify them to be one with the number of fingers and three toes. This can be another way to being Namor the Sub-mariner in MCU.

alpha centaurians

Nebula and her Minions: When the statement comes up as interdimensional gangsters who else can fit at this point for Loki to make a deal with. Once Nebula was a dreaded interspace mercenary and a pirate she attacked Earth to gain ultimate powers and use Dr Harker’s atomic compressor. We already saw clips of Thor and Loki holding a mysterious box and leaving Earth with it. Also his army made up of various aliens species so he can easily be tied into the attack. Also Nebula is relates to Thanos so this can serve as a backstory to introduce the big man in Avengers.

Nebula

Still there is possibility that someone other than them will totally turns out to be the ones in his army, who knows? For that we’ll have to wait for 2 weeks more.

Guide to Avengers : connecting the dots

Avengers set to release on May 4th 2012 which is set up in Marvel Cinematic Universe comprising of movies Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger will have the superheroes from all the four movies and some other new additions to the table. we are on the final course towards the assembly of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (and one Asgardian God of Thunder) on the big screen. While there are many easter eggs focusing on the mythos of each character in each movie, I will single out those that may have ties to The Avengers.

The simplest way to do this is to look at the chronology. Chronologically the Captain America comes first in the Marvel Cinematic Universe second is Iron Man. It seems that the beginning of Iron Man 2 is third, with the events of both The Incredible Hulk and Thor beginning during IM2. As for the bookends for TFA some may assume that they are the final events before The Avengers. Although using the map from the end of IM2 it clearly has a blimp in the Arctic, leading to the finding of Cap. Also the deleted scene from The Incredible Hulk where he destroys the polar ice cap and where for the first time Captain America’s body and shield in the ice were seen for a sec may be the reason how SHILED found out Captain America there. The Storm during Incredible Hulk may too have took place at the same time when Thor was banished to Earth and the change in weather phenomenon was recorded worldwide. For further concept of timeline one must read this
http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/5395/A-Marvel-Cinematic-Universe-Timeline/

With this the Easter Eggs and plot threads from Captain America: TFA that seem fit into connection. Seen at the Stark Expo is Jim Hammond, the Original Human Torch. This could be picked up in either The Avengers or in a Ant-Man movie as the Vision were based on the original designs of the Synthezoid Jim Hammond. They reference the Thor mythos a few times, but the next major connection seems to be Bucky falling off of the train to his death. Death is not actually the word I should use here because he was not shown dying instead he just fell into the pit in the same style in early comic books ,honestly, Bucky being on the operating table/interrogation room, never gets explained. While it could of been just another interrogation room, what if Red Skull/Zola tried a new sort of test super soldier serum on him, therefore he would survive the fall and that leads into him becoming Winter Soldier. Bucky does wake up dazed, so it’s plausible he doesn’t know if anything happened to him. This we may see in the Sequel

Finally in Captain America: TFA we see Howard Stark find the Cube at the bottom of the ocean while searching for Cap. Earlier in the movie we see Stark studying a confiscated piece of energy from the Cube realizing it could do wonders for the future of energy, before inadvertently blowing it up. From the SHIELD Vault on the Iron Man 2 Blu-ray and dvd, it references Project Pegasus, which stands for Potential Energy Group/Alternate Sources/ United States, Tony Stark built a Prismatic Accelerator to create his new metal in IM2 the plans were from Project Pegasus originally. The Accelerator looks very similar to that of energy cells in the Hydra base in TFA, while the core of the energy cells are very similar to the Arc Reactor from the Iron Man movies. Howard Stark may have created Project Pegasus to seek resolutions for better American Energy based off of the Cosmic Cube.

In Iron Man, though there aren’t many references other than the Nick Fury cameo after the credits. This was the beginning of The Avengers build up, which further developed in Iron Man 2. The biggest thing fans saw in was the Captain America shield, although not many fans would think about too much about it, on a site a question came up why Tony had this shield lying around (as seen in both Iron Man movies) perhaps he or Howard were trying to reproduce a shield for future Super Soldiers (as seen in The Incredible Hulk) it may have been for the US Agent or for the Patriot or may be that Tony idolized the stories of Captain America growing up, and tried to build a version of the shield for the sake of it. Also in IM2 is that Tony sees an image of the tesseract in Howard’s book that he studies which makes further connection between TFA and Thor here.

The most memorable Easter egg, at least for me, was the map during the debriefing between Nick Fury and Tony Stark. In this one scene Kevin Feige, President of Production of Marvel Studios managed to foreshadow future movies and appearances, as well as force the entire comic book community to have a nerdgasm at the possibilities of certain characters. First let’s examine the western hemisphere. We have Iron Man in California, Thor in New Mexico, Hulk in New England and Cap in the Arctic. Simple enough right? Depends on your definition really, because we still have the blimp in the middle of the ocean, obvious signs point to Namor and Wakanda where Black Panther is or may be Hank Pym is doing his research on Vibranium there .

The eastern hemisphere has only two blimps, one near Norway and one in Africa. Black Panther is in Africa, there on to the Norway blimp right, just wrong for assuming. This blimp could be Ant-Man as he could be studying Vibranium, maybe I am stretching here, but they could go the route original comics went when introducing Ant-Man Safe bet is definitely Black Panther though, as they will need Vibranium to make another Cap shield eventually. Onto Norway, well this one I believed to be either Bucky or Red Skull originally but after the events of TFA I was completely stumped. Why you may ask? Well if they go the Winter Soldier route, then Bucky would need to fall off the train near Russia which isn’t close enough to Norway for coincidences. As for the Skull he was sucked into another dimension via the Cosmic Cube at the end of TFA so he wouldn’t be technically on Earth so possibility of Namor cannot be denied

The Incredible Hulk had many Easter Eggs and plot threads that relate to relate with other Marvel Cinematic Universe films, some related and some not so related. As for the primary ones, in the opening credits we view plans for the sonic beam trucks created by Stark Industries, as well as a few documents wit Nick Fury’s name on them.

Another Easter egg is during the Culver University scene that can be seen at the end of Iron Man 2, the reporter states the names of the two students who captured the video of the Hulk, the names being Jack McGee and Jim Wilson. Jack McGee for those of you who don’t know was the reporter in the ABC Hulk series in the 70’s, no big deal another cute reference to the show. Jim Wilson however, is the nephew of Sam Wilson, The Falcon himself , so will we see the Falcon anytime soon? Perhaps not, but this is promising that Marvel Studios is trying to expand the MCU with more characters that aren’t exactly considered “A-list” characters. It brings great promise that this may be the case, perhaps we can see Beta Ray Bill in a future Thor movie?

The biggest egg in TIH is the repaired version of the Super Soldier serum. The serum is blue, much like in Captain America: The First Avenger and it also worked as seen with Blonksy during the Culver university sequence. The comparisons with TFA can be seen as the speed with which both Blonsky and Rogers move and execute attacks is so alike. Also the speed at which Blonsky recovered after having all of his bones “crushed ” helps better understand how Cap survived 70 years in frozen terrain, as well as hinting that the Red Skull could survive living in another realm, that being that the Serum has a self repairing side effect.

Scene followed the Culver university scene, it would have followed the debriefing of Tony by Fury. Therefore, this could have been around the time that Thor was taking care of business over in New Mexico, there is a two or three hour difference so it could be the same moment that Thor was taking out the Destroyer, which could cause atmospheric disturbances and change weather patterns throughout the nation. So outside of a theory with absolutely no meteorology experience this really could be no more than a simple coincidence or reference to Thor.

The Incredible Hulk ends with a clue of Bruce may be finally able to control Hulk as his eyes turn green, Loki’s Magic is also green and this may be the reference to the very first comic book where Loki takes control of Hulk causing Avengers to unite for the very first time thus Marvel Studios being loyal to fans by sticking up to what actually happened.

Speaking of everyone’s favorite God of Thunder, Thor is similar to TIH, it has many subtle eggs, and a few things that could be explained further explored with another scene from an MCU film. On with the refrences, Dr. Erik Selvig references Banner when talking about SHIELD, and also hints at knowing someone that has dealt with “these people before.” Now having read the script, this colleague is known to be Ant-Man himself, Henry “Hank” Pym. Now this could solidify the “theory” that Hank Pym is in Africa searching/studying Vibranium, all it actually says is that Hank has been involved with Shield in some capacity prior to Thor, which with Marvel Math you can assume is before IM2 if not the original Iron Man Around the 34 minute mark of Thor is the end Credits scene to IM2, now does this mean that this part of Thor falls is chronologically following the debriefing scene in IM2 ?

The easter egg is a simple phrase Loki says to Heimdall, “There are secret paths between the worlds to which even you with all your gifts are blind.” This phrase set up the route to which Loki arrives on Earth for The Avengers. Yet after seeing TFA we know that the Cosmic Cube is a path between worlds, whether or not Heimdall can see these paths does not matter. What does matter, is the fact that now we have a way for Thor to get back to Earth in The Avengers. When the Skull was sucked into the World Tree, the cosmic universe looked very similar to a scene in Thor, meaning he could have ended up close to Asgard. At the end of Thor we see that Shield has the Cube in custody with the idea that it has unlimited power and it is hinted that Shield may know that the Cube is a gateway to another dimension. Now with Cap unfrozen, he will be able to explain what happened to the Skull, which could lead to someone using it to get Thor back on Earth. Although, I would assume that Loki will have obtained the Cube somehow before Thor is brought back to Earth which would become the day unlike any other.

Another connecting dot in MCU is Agent Phil Coulson. He is introduced as an agent of Shield in Iron Man and then his role expands in Iron Man 2 and Thor. A original character created for movies played by Clark Gregg is now in the Avengers movie with his solo Shorts tie in to the movie showing how badass he is. Personally he has become one of my personal favourites MCU and would like his further character development in Avengers

Also the introduction of Hawkeye as an agent of Shield in Thor was another homage to original comics where he worked with SHIELD and was later framed and became a runaway hero. In Thor we got a glimpse into the Odin’s Vault which had Eternal Flame, Infinity Gauntlet, Warlock’s Eye, Orb of Agamotto andTablet of Life & Time. Out of these fans are most excited about the infinity gauntlet which can be a hint about Thanos whom we can see sooner and later in a marvel movie

Till now I am able to connect movies and MCU as much I could for rest we will have to wait till 4th of May 2012.
