What is Marvel Now! all about?

After Avengers vs. X-Men is over Marvel Now! Will take over. From October 2012 to Feb 2013 we’ll be getting new #1 titles starting with Uncanny Avengers #1. A character (possibly more) will die, there will be costume changes, new alliances, and according to Marvel Chief Creative Officer, Joe Quesada

“Marvel NOW! is the next step in Marvel story evolution and character evolution. It’s not a reboot. It is a universe-shifting catch-all.”

This all started after an official press release by Marvel in earlier this month [http://www.squidoo.com/marvel-now ]. We got some of the plans for the end of the year and it all starts after AvsX is over. Marvel Now! Will introduce new titles and changes for certain characters [http://marvel.com/news/story/19008/marvel_now].

If you read Mr. Quesada’s comment carefully you will see that he gives weight on it’s not a reboot part but still a universe shifting catch-all. He said that because last year DC had Flashpoint event that rebooted the whole DC universe and the New 52 came out. DC had a record number of sale with its #1 titles and the reason Marvel is not in mood of a reboot right now so they will relaunch and launch certain titles with keeping Marvel Universe’s history intact.

This, on the other hand will give old readers something new to read and getting some new fans.

One of the main focuses of this re-launch is the Uncanny Avengers #1 that will mix Avengers and X-Men into one single team.  Marvel released an artwork which gave a lot of hints and teases about what the relaunch may be about.

Few things to notice in this image:

  • Cable has an eye-patch
  • Hulk has space armor (and a robo-orb)
  • MCU/ Ultimate Nick Fury
  • New Uniform for Cyclops
  • Iron Man has new armor
  • Thor has swords
  • Jean Grey is back
  • Invisible Woman, Sue Storm in the team and a new uniform for her
  • Rocket Raccoon and Nova getting a lot of focus.
  • Possible New Uniform for Captain America.

All it means that its not a reboot and still it is. When a publisher decides to remake the characters it is reboot of one kind. Marvel still doesn’t wants to get into a total reboot zone so weather is passes of fails only the future will tell

The Amazing Spider-Man Review

There is no doubt in my mind that it’s difficult to even watch this movie without thinking about the original that came out 10 years ago. But I think it’s better to go into this film, without comparing it with earlier ones. When the reboot was first announced I was not sure about what Sony and co. can do with Spider-Man this time around. After watching the trailers I was sort of convinced, also with the addition of the cast I thought,it shouldn’t be too bad.

I finally got to see the movie few days back, in my opinion it wasn’t perfect anyway.Cast was ok, Andrew Garfield did a fantastic job as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. He was able to balance the nerdy, dramatic version of the character, being a wise ass as Spider-Man. Bringing in some witty one liners. Emma Stone is great as Gwen Stacy, between her and Garfield they have great chemistry together. As for the other characters, Captain Stacy, Uncle Ben and Aunt May, you got yourself a pretty good cast here among Denis Leary, Martin Sheen and Sally Field. Now onto my gripes about the movie.

Pacing was slightly off, looks like a bunch of the dialogue in the trailers where cut out of the final produc. The main problem was the story, plot elements in the first 45 minutes of the movie is the same as the original just with minor tweaks. Dr. Curtis Connors/Lizard portrayed by Rhys Ifans is good, but the character really wasn’t that interesting, as for the final look of The Lizard he looked okay, nothing spectacular they should have kept the snout which would have made him look more scary.

Overall a pretty average reboot. Hopefully the story behind Peter’s parents is explored a little bit more in the upcoming sequel. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good movie, but as a reboot, it’s just.. okay. I’ve seen this in IMAX 3D by the way and it was good, but I recommend you watch in 2D.

The Walking Dead. Five Characters To Watch in Season 3

With images coming out from the set of The Walking Dead’s season 3, there are familiar and unfamiliar faces are showing up. While there will almost certainly be some more (rumors have it that at least two new recurring characters will join the cast this season, a pair of survivors who don’t appear in the original comic books), it seems pretty clear to anyone paying attention that some of these characters have major roles to play.

So for the people have already have watched already have some idea what is going to happen in season 3. For characters to look out for, here they come.

Michonne

Showing up just in time to save Andrea last time, Michonne was the mysterious add to the cast that everyone was talking about..Michonne is a fan-favorite character in the comics, and someone who they’ve obviously put a lot of energy behind promoting. Not only did she get a great introduction at the end of season two, but her origin was printed (for the first time, mind you) in Playboy that same week. That means there is awesomeness written al over the part and definitely the one to look out for.

T-Dog

He hasn’t exactly been much to watch in the story. But the fans have noticed it, and producers have repeatedly promised that there’s a long game in place for T-Dog, and it involved more than just wandering into the shot with a serious face on.

As part of the cast he has nothing real to do on the show and because of the stereotypical black guy in the cast and after Michonne’s introduction and Tyrese’s appearance rumour he is the guy who may have to leave the show sooner or later

The Governor

He is the season’s bid guy and he is one of the most horrible human characters written in the history of Graphic Novels. The governor in many ways is exactly opposite of what Rick is.

While Rick already trying to come up with his Ricktatorship and telling the survivors to follow his lead of they want to live. A war is coming between two kings and its worth watching

Lori Grimes

As the comic books suggests Lori’s pregnancy is going to become a major plotlines on the show. For a newborn baby its totally a different world to survive in and then adding someone to the tribe who cannot even save itself is like bringing along a liability. Let’s see how Lori manages things while being with the Governor

Merle Dixon

Merle is a jerk and he is one of the Fan Favourites. He along with his brother are fan favourites from season one.

Now when set photos confirm that he is living in the Woodbury camp that means he’ll return

The dynamic between Daryl and Merle is something much watching for when Daryl is already close to Rick now he’ll have some or other clash of loyalty between the two.

So lets wait for the show which is under production right now as it seems, because there are few things in this world worth waiting for and this show is one of them.
