Why DC should go ahead with Justice League Mortal

Justice League: Mortal was on track, with sets built, a cast and a director. However, the film fell out just weeks before filming began, because Warner Bros. was not willing to take a risk with the films budget. The budget was reportedly HUGE. The plan was to release the Justice League movie and then make spin off movies for each character.
The film was to feature Talia al Ghul, the OMACS and Maxwell Lord as villains, and the team roster was comprised of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and The Martian Manhunter. There was a mixed fan reaction and most of them hated the idea at that time. but DC and Warner bros could have gone with the film ahead. Warner bros are known for their involvement in altering source material and spoiling films and every fanboy hates that.

If DC goes the Marvel way making movies for each character we won’t get a JLA movie before 2018 or may be 20. Unlike Marvel comics the characters owned by DC comics are well known and well established not only in comic books but from the well known DC Animated Universe and other animated series. Unlike popularity of Thor and Captain America everyone knows who Flash and Martian Manhunter are.

Movies like these are highly anticipated especially for kids who grew up watching the Justice League Animated series. Ma n Of Steel (2013) and Green Lantern could be in the same continuity and who knows the movie may do wonders.

Actually, I want to see all sorts of stuff from this film! The costumes, the concept art, maybe even storyboards! Since the film’s not gonna happen now, I’d be really glad if Warner Bros. released this stuff! And of course, what would be really interesting would be to see the script.

However, is it possible that Warner Bros. is still planning on using this same script for when and if they make the actual Justice League movie? It would have to be tweaked, obviously, since, for instance, Green Lantern’s now going to be Hal Jordan. But could this still be the Justice League script we see on screen? Not only that, but, since they’re making the solo movies now. In any case I’ll love to see a Live Action Justice League movie some time in future

Mystery Aliens in Loki Army

Avengers Aliens

It’s been a while the Avengers super bowl spot surfaced and we got the first look at the aliens in the Loki’s army with no info on who the aliens are, the only hint we got that Loki after leaving Asgard at the end of Thor made pact with some inter-dimensional gangsters. Here are some theories on who are these mysterious Aliens.

Skrulls/Chittauri : While Joss Whedon denied about Skrulls in the movie he never said anything about Chittauri in the film. In the ultimate universe The Chittauri serve as the ultimate version of Skrulls and since fox owns the rights to Skrulls since they appeared first in Fantastic Four so this can be a safe way for Marvel Studios to design them as a mix of 616 and Ultimate Universe and name them Chittauri. Skrulls have always played an important role in Marvel universe and this can be debut in MCU. But having Skrulls need a lot of backstory to be explained so it is a safe way to go with someone whose origin story is not required or as enormous as the Skrulls

Skrulls-Chittauri

Skrulls

Kree: Since random mentions of Captain Marvel in the movie there are chances of Aliens being the Kree but they are not. They not at all have any resemblance with any of the attacking Aliens. The only connection is that after Skrulls, Kree is the most powerful race of planet that can attack earth. Not now but may be in future we will get to see them.

Kree

Kree

Thanos: WE already had a infinity gauntlet easter egg in the Thor and after that there were fare chances him appearing in Avengers. Also have you noticed how similar the headbands are similar with the one Thanos wears?

Thanos

Thanos marvel comics

The New Men AKA Knights of Wundagore: When screenshots of Super bowl teaser first surfaced something that took everybody’s attention was a contraption Loki was riding while chasing Iron Man. The same type of object is used to the New Men who were a creating of High Evolutionary. High Evolutionary always has a role in every cosmic event in Marvel universe. Wundagore is the place where Magneto’s children were born who because two of the most prominent avengers. But after we got clear pictures the aliens looked nothing like them.

Knights Of Wundagore

Frost Giants: Loki can always escape to Jotunheim anytime he wants. He have used Forst Giants for a number of purposes, after all he is Laufyson. They don’t even need to have a backstory like Skrulls . The aliens have a striking resemblance to the Jotun Army except for the fact that we know that they use some high tech weapons.

Frost Giants as in Thor film 2011

Badoons: Whichever site I have been to seem to have this race as one of their favourite. They have very little backstory to explain and are green in colour like the ones in Loki’s army. The only difference is that they generally don’t use such hi-tech armour.

Badoons

Annihilus and his Minions: Though the aliens’ faces have a striking resemblance to ones Annihilus uses but then rights to Annihilation wave is owned by Fox and Fantastic Four franchise so there is a no no about them as well.

Annihilation Wave

Sons of Muspell: The Superbowl teaser shows lightening over a building and a dimensional portal opening in the sky. This reminds of an old Thor/ Fantastic Four team up comics where it happened over the Baxter building. Also Muspelheim is one of the realms from Asgard and thus doesn’t requires to have a backstory and simply followed by an invasion.

Sons of Muspell

Namor and the Atlantians: Iron Man 2 dropped hints about Namor being in the MCU and we all were with high hopes about getting a Namor movie soon. But the Atlantians are blue in colour rather than the green coloured Aliens in the film.

Atlantians

Karbonites: Karbonites were a lesser race which serves as the origin story for Beta Ray Bill. Having Karbonites in Avengers can easily introduce Beta Ray in Thor 2, the only problem is that here only Beta Ray Bill was the one with horse shaped face on that planet and rest of them were humanoids.

Beta Ray Bill

Dark Elves: The look is very similar to what we’ve seen, and in a slight design tweak could be mistaken for Skrulls.  Also they originate from those 9 realms.

Dark Elves

Breakworlders: Breakworld is just a planet/race of aliens that appeared in The Astonishing X-Men a few years ago.  They have a dark greenish/grey skin, wear armor. And they were created by Joss Whedon himself.

Breakworld Ashtonishing X-men

Abyss and the Luminals: We already have seen Dimensional portal opening in the trailers. One of the stories surround this portal and cosmic cube belongs to Luminals. Nova and Cosmo trapped a villain named Abyss and an group made up of many aliens named the Luminals, and while in the Dimensional Envelope Abyss defeated The Luminals and TRANSFORMED THEM INTO HIS OWN ZOMBIE ARMY. They too have a close resemblance to Luminals and this can explain Loki’s interest in the cosmic cube.

Abyss and the Luminals

Alpha Centaurians: A group of aliens who invaded earth because water on their planet finished. They have the most close resemblance to the ones in Loki’s Army. The action figures can easily identify them to be one with the number of fingers and three toes. This can be another way to being Namor the Sub-mariner in MCU.

alpha centaurians

Nebula and her Minions: When the statement comes up as interdimensional gangsters who else can fit at this point for Loki to make a deal with. Once Nebula was a dreaded interspace mercenary and a pirate she attacked Earth to gain ultimate powers and use Dr Harker’s atomic compressor. We already saw clips of Thor and Loki holding a mysterious box and leaving Earth with it. Also his army made up of various aliens species so he can easily be tied into the attack. Also Nebula is relates to Thanos so this can serve as a backstory to introduce the big man in Avengers.

Nebula

Still there is possibility that someone other than them will totally turns out to be the ones in his army, who knows? For that we’ll have to wait for 2 weeks more.

Avengers Vs X-Men : From Battleground Part 2

In last part I discussed about the commanders of the war. In the 2nd part I’ll talk about the key players in the war.

Three of the key players in Avengers vs X-Men are the most powerful women in marvel universe.

Hope Summers: The Mutant Messiah around whom the whole story is concentrated. Now what X-Men and Avengers want from hope is clear by this part but in the war everyone is ignoring what Hope wants for herself. She is getting into a Jean Gray like situation who ultimately paid the price by her death. By this time its clear that she wants a superhero career of her own and wants to help people instead of staying at an island under someone’s command whom she is not even sure likes or not. Hope can be a tough rebel if she ever wanted to be one so it would be interesting to see what plans are going on in her mind. .

Scarlet Witch: The chief reason Mutantkind went almost extinct after House of M event makes her comeback and clearly a lot is there in stores for her. Vision has a growing hatred for her. It’s clear by the time the series ends Wanda would be a part of Avengers again and it would be interesting

Miss Marvel: Carol Denvers takes the mantle of Captain Marvel as cosmic forces too are getting ready for the arrival of phoenix. What part she is going to play is unclear at this moment but getting into such a big role defiantly means big plans for her. He encounter with Hope Phoenix would be spectacular.

Other Key Players

Storm: She’s been an avenger for a short while and is married to a prominent Avenger the former Black Panther T’challa. she’s a character that would absolutely follow her heart and what she thought was the correct course of action — regardless of what T’Challa might think. While fanboys speculate that she is going to break up with T’Challa at certain point and what if this is that certain point where things get tough for both of them to be carried further.

Namor: Whatever Namor does is because there is something in his and Atlantis’s interest. He Joined Cyclops because the power lies around him and Namor can use this advantage for Atlantis. Utopia is not an ideal place to live but for Namor it serves some purpose what makes him stay among the team. He has been a friend of Steve Rogers for a long time and he won’t rush into the battle against him, or would he ?

The Braddocks: “Avengers Vs. X-Men” is also a conflict that will divide families. Brian Braddock AKA Captain Britain recently joined the Secret Avengers and his sister, Elizabeth is better known as the X-Force member Psylocke. Both are in teams which do the dirty jobs that no-one does and works in shadows. Which way they turn out would be interesting to know.

Avengers vs. X-Men: From Battleground Part 1

Last week started the epic battle between two of the marvel universe’s powerhouses after Cable went all berserk and fought with Spiderman. After being teased for months now the time is here for the epic battle to start which will decide the fate of marvel universe. I don’t want to go on about if it will be awesome or end up like fear itself but want to talk about the odds in the battle. The blog turned out to be long so I decided to cut it into two parts which I’ll publish sometime in this week.

The Commanders

Cyclops: The leader of the X-men who parted his ways with Wolverine after the events of Schism and during Regenesis will do anything to protect the interest of his community. He wants to tap the phoenix force and wants to help the mutant kind. He might be selfish and now working with the big guns like Magneto, Emma and Sabestian Shaw but in his POV whatever he does is in the interest of his community. Few years back 90% of the mutant population got wiped from the planet and now when Hope is the new Phoenix he’ll use her in the best way as he can and won’t let anyone harm her. In past few years Cyclops went through lot of personal tragedies most importantly loosing Jean and then his own brother Havok and his daughter Rachel turn back on him taking sides with Wolverine. He is bad and ruthless can go to any step to save Hope. We have seen this, he let Nightcrawler die didn’t cared about his own son. He leads a group of Mutants who can do anything on his command. They won’t care if Cyclops ordered them to Nuke a town because they know whatever he does is best in their interests. If Avengers want Phoenix they’ll have to go through him and going through him means going through entire Utopia. People predict that this may be Cyclops’s last battle but who know where it goes.

Captain America: The leader of Avengers works what is best to protect all of the humankind and earth. He is battle tested and a master strategist, when he wants to get something that means he’ll get it. Unlike X-Men Avengers is a group of individual superheroes with their own personal interests as well. Steve Rogers might be the leader of the team but they are not like they’ll end up doing whatever Cap wants them to do. Also Avengers trust him and they know whatever decision Steve takes is in Mutual interest for everyone. He has worked with X-Men in the past and might already have figured out their weakness and strengths. The first battle is going to take place on Utopia itself and Cap has a lot of experience about fighting on enemy’s turf. Captain is not a selfish nutjob who will throw everyone into mindless war without thinking for a while. It’s his job to protect earth from all consuming Phoenix force and he’ll do his job well and at any cost.

The Generals

Luke Cage

Luke Cage has proven to be an unorthodox, but pretty effective leader of the New Avengers. He’s the by default leader of his Avengers team, but not by his choice but because of situations. He is a family guy, but his integrity and dignity has put him in a leadership even if he wants it or not. He’s Prone to sometimes forgetting that he is the leader. But when he stands on principle, it’s tough for people not to fall in behind him. Luke is a guy who has no trouble speaking his mind and acting on his beliefs he tends to make decisions for himself and then others follow along in his wake. He is very much guided by his ideology of how he wants his infant daughter to someday view him. He wants to be moral and worthy. Civil War affected Luke’s personal and family life the most and won’t go blindly with things rather he’ll examine and if they are right on his morals and principles he can make the hardest decisions possible.

Wolverine

Wolverine is a highly skilled covert operative and warrior. With the current incarnation of X-Force, he probably lives a easy life because that is a team of badasses. He knows they can take care of themselves. Like Cyclops Wolverine too had a lots of personal losses including loss of Jean as well and then is best friend Nightcrawler. He is more focussed towards the term called horrors of war and that’s why he won’t just go hacking and slashing in middle of the battlefield. Wolverine doesn’t shy away from others challenging his authority. The X-Men he’s surrounded himself with — Kitty, Beast, Rachel and even Iceman — aren’t the type to blindly follow orders. All of them examine the situation first and then act. They all are like Wolverine and ready to make some tough decisions when time comes.

In the next part I’ll talk about the individual heroes and their motives to join either teams and their possible roles when the Battle takes place.
